New Adventures & A New Beginning: Welcome to My Coastal Country Life

Do you ever reach a point in your life where you feel a shift—where something in you says it’s time for new adventures?
Well, I’ve reached that point.
Before I dive into what’s ahead, let me share a little of how I got here. I’m a 40-something single mom living on the southern coast of Georgia. My daughter’s father passed away several years ago while serving on active duty, and since then, life has been a mix of rebuilding, navigating motherhood, and rediscovering who I am.
I’ve dated casually over the years, but no one ever felt like the one—until recently. I met a man who is charming, funny, and wonderfully understanding of my weird sense of humor. We enjoy many of the same activities, have our own separate interests (which I think is healthy), and share the same core values. I won’t say much more because I’m not looking to jinx anything… but let’s just say it feels different in the best way.
But the true star of my life?
My daughter.
She is who I aspire to be when I grow up—and yes, I know how backward that sounds. But hear me out. She has a level of focus, determination, and drive that I’ve rarely seen in anyone, let alone someone her age. Ever since she was 3 or 4, she has wanted to be a veterinarian. Not only has she kept that dream alive, but she has worked for it—every single day. She’s a senior in high school now, maintains straight A’s, works part-time at a local veterinarian’s office, and was recently accepted into the college of her choice.
Right now, she’s planning her dorm room.
And this is where things got interesting.
She has a very specific aesthetic—a little country, a little salty, and a whole lot of sass. But when we started looking for décor, everything fell into one of three buckets: coastal, country, or trendy-girly. Nothing combined them. Nothing felt like her.
And that’s when I realized… my home looks the same way. Some rooms lean coastal, others lean country—but nothing blends both. It’s almost as if designers don’t understand you can live on the coast and still be country.
So, with a new relationship blooming, a daughter getting ready to fly the nest, and a whole lot of emotions swirling around… I decided I needed something just for me.
And that something is this blog and my new small business:
My Coastal Country Life
I’m starting with digital prints—designs that blend both sides of our style: soft coastal textures with warm country charm. One of my favorites is a shell-patterned background with a large monogram letter layered on top. I made the “T” for my daughter, but I’ve created digital prints for every letter so others can enjoy them too.
Once you purchase a design, you can print it at home, have it printed locally, or do what I do and order prints online to be shipped straight to your door.
This blog will be a place for all of it—life updates, new adventures, design inspiration, product launches, stories from coastal country living, and whatever else life brings my way.
So thank you for being here as I begin this new chapter.
I hope you’ll come back and grow with me.
